Control the vessel

Stirrers improve mixing and oxygen availability. Bioreactors can monitor temperature and pH, control foam and provide sampling ports. A sparger introduces air into the culture.

Distinguish culture modes

Batch culture receives broth once. Continuous culture receives fresh medium while spent culture is removed. A stirred tank has a cylindrical body and curved base.
