Compare horizontal and vertical bisection

A horizontal cut separates animal from vegetal cytoplasm and produces different, abnormal outcomes. A vertical cut leaves each half with both regions and produces a normal, smaller larva. The key difference is cytoplasmic determinants, not nuclear components alone. Choose C.

OlympIQ exam lens

  • ✓Animal and vegetal regions can contain different cytoplasmic determinants.
  • ✓A cut that preserves both regions can preserve normal patterning.
OlympIQ trap

Different developmental outcomes do not automatically show a nuclear difference.
