Match technique to the barrier

Artificial insemination (AI) can help when sperm count is low by placing semen into the female reproductive tract. IVF fertilises an ovum outside the body; embryos are then transferred to the reproductive tract. ZIFT transfers a zygote or early embryo to the fallopian tube; IUT transfers an embryo to the uterus.

Do not diagnose infertility too early

Two months without conception is not sufficient to diagnose infertility. Infertility assessment follows a substantially longer period of regular unprotected intercourse and considers both partners.

OlympIQ exam lens

  • ✓Oligospermia can be addressed with AI in the keyed sample.
  • ✓ZIFT → tube; IUT → uterus.
  • ✓IVF is in-vitro fertilisation followed by embryo transfer.
  • ✓Two months is not the infertility threshold.
OlympIQ trap

Keep the site of fertilisation separate from the site where a zygote or embryo is transferred.
