Gel Electrophoresis

Smaller fragments migrate farther toward anode. DNA is negatively charged and migrates toward the anode. Smaller DNA fragments move faster/farther through agarose than larger fragments.

Given a+ b = c with a>b, then c>a>b, and d>c

Therefore size order largest to smallest is d>c>a>b. From anode to cathode, the smallest band is farthest toward the anode: b, a, c, d.

Gel Electrophoresis

Pore size and migration of charged DNA fragments. Agarose is obtained from seaweeds, not sea bacteria (A false). DNA fragments separate mainly by size (B true); ethidium-bromide-stained DNA is visualised under UV rather than ordinary visible light (C false); increasing agarose concentration reduces pore size (D true).
