Control the vessel
Stirrers improve mixing and oxygen availability. Bioreactors can monitor temperature and pH, control foam and provide sampling ports. A sparger introduces air into the culture.
Distinguish culture modes
Batch culture receives broth once. Continuous culture receives fresh medium while spent culture is removed. A stirred tank has a cylindrical body and curved base.
OlympIQ exam lens
- ✓Stirrer → mixing and oxygen distribution.
- ✓Batch → broth once.
- ✓Continuous → feed and drain together.
- ✓Sparger → gas entry.
