Start with the physical model

Read the configuration once, state the conserved quantity or governing law, and mark any changing geometry, sign convention or limiting condition.

Build the relation

For a circular path of radius r inside the solenoid, flux
Φ=πr2B=πr2βtΦ = \pi r2B=\pi r2\beta t
Hence induced emf magnitude
ε = |dΦ/dt|=πr2β: A
A thin cylindrical shell of radius r and thickness dr has circumferential resistance
dR=ρ(2πr)/(hdr),sodi=ε/dR=βhrdr/(2ρ)dR = ρ(2\pi r)/(h dr), so di=ε/dR = \beta h r dr/(2ρ)
Integrating from a to b gives
i=βh(b2−a2)/(4ρ):Bi = \beta h(b2-a2)/(4ρ): B
Since the shells conduct in parallel,
dG = h dr/(2πρr), hence G=[h/(2πρ)]ln(b/a) and R=2πρ/[h ln(b/a)]: C

A changing magnetic flux also produces a circulating electric field outside the solenoid, so D is false. Correct A,B,C.

Check before selecting

Check units, sign and one limiting case. A valid result must still fit the original geometry and stated constraint.

OlympIQ exam lens

  • ✓Name the governing law before using a formula.
  • ✓Keep the stated geometry and direction information explicit.
  • ✓Use one unit or limiting-case check.
OlympIQ trap

The cylindrical shells form parallel current paths; adding their resistances in series is incorrect.
