Know this first

Electricity questions depend on identifying charge, a conducting path and the condition that controls current or magnetic effect.

Start with the physical model

Read the configuration once, state the conserved quantity or governing law, and mark any changing geometry, sign convention or limiting condition.

Build the relation

For a uniformly charged non-conducting sphere, the potential at the centre is nonzero:
Vc=3Q/(8πε0R)Vc = 3Q/(8\pi ε0R)

Hence work done in bringing q from infinity is qVc, not zero, so Statement I is false.

The surface potential
Vs=Q/(4πε0R)Vs = Q/(4\pi ε0R)
Thus Vc- Vs = Q/(8πε0R), exactly Statement II

Therefore I false, II true: D.

Check before selecting

Check units, sign and one limiting case. A valid result must still fit the original geometry and stated constraint.

OlympIQ exam lens

  • ✓Name the governing law before using a formula.
  • ✓Keep the stated geometry and direction information explicit.
  • ✓Use one unit or limiting-case check.
OlympIQ trap

Zero electric field at the centre does not mean zero potential or zero work from infinity.
